STORRS, Conn.—Seniors Kelli Bates and Jill Stockley heard their names read over the speakers at Burrill Family Field, one last time during lineups today. UConn (21-29, 8-13 AAC) took on Tulsa (35-17, 16-5 AAC) in a senior day doubleheader to conclude the 2019 regular season.
Game 1
The Huskies battled their way back into contention after falling behind early, at 6-0 behind the Golden Hurricane. After keeping Tulsa off the board in the third, UConn put up some runs of their own in the bottom of the fourth in the most epic of ways.
For her fourth of the season, Kiwi McDaniel homered to left center and brought Briana Marcelino and pinch runner Aziah James along with her. And, with the momentum shifting their way the Huskies tallied two more to their cause in the following half inning.

Olivia Sappington followed McDaniel's example and went yard as UConn's third batter in the bottom of the fifth. This two RBI home run would be her fifth of the season. The Huskies had successfully mounted a late rally against the Golden Hurricane, cutting the score to 6-5 heading into the top of the sixth.

A solo home run to right center from Tulsa's second batter walled off UConn, as the
Golden Hurricane took game one at 7-5.
Katie Koshes received the nod to start in the circle for the Huskies and was relieved by Marybeth Olson who tossed 5.2 innings.
Game 2
Stockley led the UConn defense in the second game of the day and pitched 6.1 innings. She garnered several strikeouts and only three walk through 31 Tulsa batters. Olson returned to the circle to close out the final American Athletic Conference series of the season and took on the remaining three batters for the Golden Hurricane.
Tulsa opened the contest scoring on an error by UConn, but the Husky defense regrouped and retired the final batter on a swinging strikeout. The teams would go scoreless through the next six innings until the Golden Hurricane scored seven in the final inning.
UConn contested Tulsa every inch of the way, posting at least one hit in five of seven innings played. Guevarra had a great hitting day, garnering a double in this game as well. She was aided by sacrifice bunt from Carli Cutler and a sacrifice fly from Marcelino.
The team was joined by their Team IMPACT teammate Abbie Brouker, who threw the first-pitch for game two. The Huskies will turn their attention to the 2019 AAC Softball Championships, which begin Thursday, May 9th in Houston, Texas.
