Nelson-Ododa, Williams Named to U.S. Pan America Games 3x3 Roster

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – UConn women's basketball rising sophomores Olivia Nelson-Ododa and Christyn Williams will represent the United States in 3x3 at the 2019 U.S. Pan American Games.
Nelson-Ododa and Williams are joined on the team by Oregon's Ruthy Hebard and Sabrina Ionescu.
This is the first time 3x3 will be included at the Pan America Games. The tournament will take place July 27-29 at the Coliseo Eduardo Dibo in Lima, Peru.
The team members were selected by the USA Basketball 3x3 National Team Selection Committee after they participated in the 2019 Red Bull USA Basketball 3x3 Nationals this past May at the Las Vegas Downtown Events Center. The selections also were approved by the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee.
Nelson-Ododa won a gold medal with the 2018 USA U18 National Team and a bronze medal with the 2016 USA U17 World Cup Team.
Williams helped the USA to gold medals at the 2018 FIBA Americas U18 Championship and 2017 FIBA 3x3 U18 World Cup, silver at the 2017 FIBA U19 World Cup and bronze at the 2016 FIBA U17 World Cup. She also played in two stops on the 2019 FIBA 3x3 Women's Series, including Chengdu (May 31-June 1) and Turin (June 14-15), and is expected to participate in the Ekaterinburg stop from July 9-10 in Russia.
The USA women will open play on July 27 against Argentina at 4:30 p.m. (all times listed are EDT), followed by Uruguay at 7 p.m. and Brazil at 10 p.m. The U.S. women complete preliminary round play on July 28 versus Venezuela at 6 p.m. and Dominican Republic at 8 p.m.
The women's semifinals will be played on July 29, and will feature the No. 1 and No. 4 teams from the preliminary round at 10 a.m., followed by the No. 2 and No. 3 placed teams at 10:30 a.m. The semifinal losers will meet in the bronze medal game at 1 p.m., and the winners will play in the gold medal game at 2 p.m.
The women's fifth place game, which includes the No. 5 and No. 6 teams, will be played at 12 p.m. on July 29.
