STORRS, Conn. - The UConn women's soccer team was picked to finish seventh in the American Athletic Conference preseason poll, as voted by the coaches on Tuesday.
The Huskies are looking to rebound after an injury-riddled season led to a 4-14 overall record and 2-7 mark in conference play.Â
Redshirt senior Vivien Beil and redshirt sophomore Kess Elmore are back after missing the entire 2018 campaign with ACL injuries. Both players were All-Conference second team members in 2017 with Beil leading the team in goals (6), assists (6) and points (18) and Elmore posting four goals during her freshman year.
The Huskies have a nice mix of veterans and talented underclassman that are primed for a bounce back season in 2019. UConn opens the 2019 season with an exhibition game at Quinnipiac at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, August 14.
