STORRS, Conn. – The UConn men's soccer team has announced the date for its annual Meet the Huskies Banquet, an incredible event celebrating the history of the program and the people who made it possible. The 2019 edition of the banquet will take place on Sunday, Sept. 22 at the Rome Ballroom in the South Dorms on the University of Connecticut campus.
The evening will begin at 5 p.m. with an autograph session for the current group of Huskies, followed by player introductions at 5:45 p.m. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m., prior to head coach Ray Reid announcing the eight individuals who will be honored for their contributions to soccer in Connecticut – highlighted by this year's Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, studio host Rob Stone from Fox Sports.
Santiago Muriel, Adria Beso, Colin Bradley and Jon Goodridge - four former players under Reid - will be honored for their on-field contributions to the UConn men's soccer program. Bradley was a three-time NCAA quarterfinalist, while Muriel and Beso also advanced to the Elite 8 as members of the 2014 team. Jim Leahy, Joe Zizik and Joe Filipetti will also be recognized.
Reservations are still available, with half table (four seats) going for $250 and full table (eight seats) for $450. Nearly 50-percent of each is tax-deductible. Payment forms are HERE (PDF) and please contact Maria Murray (maria.murray@uconn.edu) with questions.
Advertisements, which are 100-percent tax deductible, can also be purchased for the dinner journal (full page-$600, half page-$400, quarter page-$250) by contacting assistant coach Andy Parker (andrew.parker@uconn.edu).
The Huskies announced their 2018 slate earlier this summer, a schedule that includes matches against five NCAA Tournament teams from last season. UConn will play their eight home games in Hartford, Conn. – while Joseph J. Morrone Stadium undergoes construction – with the season-opener against Rider taking place Friday, Aug. 30 at 7 p.m.
