Softball Announces 2021 Schedule

STORRS, Conn. - The UConn softball team has announced their 2021 schedule that features eight conference series in the program's return to the BIG EAST.
The Huskies are slated to open their brand new stadium on Saturday, March 13 in their Big East opener against Georgetown.
UConn will play home BIG EAST series against Georgetown (March 13-14), Butler (March 27-28), Seton Hall (April 17-18) and St. John's (May 1-2).
Their road BIG EAST series included trips to Creighton (March 20-21), Providence (April 3-4), Providence (April 10-11) and Villanova (May 8-9)
Conference series will consist of a three-game seris with a doubleheader on Saturday's.
The Huskies non-conference schedule features 12 games against Top-100 RPI teams and five teams that reached the NCAA Tournament from the last completed season in 2019.
UConn opens the 2021 season at the Coastal Carolina Invitational on Friday, Feb. 12 against Tennessee at 10 a.m. The Huskies will play five total games in the tournament against Tennesse, Akron and Coastal Carolina from Feb. 12-14.
The Huskies head to Fort Myers, Fla. the following weekend against Northern Illinois, FIU and FGCUÂ in the FGCU Softball Tournament on Feb. 19-21.
UConn then heads to Texas to play at Texas State (Feb. 26), Baylor (Feb. 27)Â and against the Longhorns (Feb. 28). The weekend also features games against Lamar in San Marcos (Feb. 26) and Waco (Feb. 27).
The last non-conference weekend of the year will take place in Chapel Hill, N.C. at the UNC Tournament on March 5-7. The Huskies will face off against South Carolina, Elon and North Carolina.
The Huskies got off to a 16-5 start to the 2020 season under first year head coach Laura Valentino before the season was cancelled due to Covid-19.
