Bueckers Named BIG EAST Player of the Week

NEW YORK – UConn women's basketball sophomore Paige Bueckers was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week on Monday after leading the Huskies to a season-opening win over Arkansas.
Bueckers set a new career high with 34 points vs. the Razorbacks. She scored all her points after the first quarter and shot 15-for-19 from the field. Bueckers tied Kerry Bascom (vs. Penn State, 1989) for the most points by a Husky in a season opener.
Bueckers added six rebounds, four assists, two blocks and two steals and had no turnovers in 40 minutes.
The Hopkins, Minn., native is the reigning BIG EAST Player of the Year and was named the Preseason BIG EAST Player of the Year.
The Huskies (1-0) are back in action in the inaugural Women's Battle 4 Atlantis this weekend. UConn opens the tournament vs. Minnesota (2-1) on Saturday at noon ET.
