HookC Ranked 39 by Collegiate Baseball, Peterson Second Team All-American

TUCSON, Ariz. - The 2022 UConn baseball team is ranked No. 39 in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Preseason Top 50 poll, along with right-handed pitcher Austin Peterson earning Second Team All-American accolades.
The Huskies are coming off their third-straight NCAA tournament appearance and seventh in the last 11 years. UConn captured both the 2021 BIG EAST regular season and tournament titles, marking the first time in program history the team had won both in the same season.
In his first season in Storrs, Peterson received Second Team All-BIG EAST honors after going 7-1 with 2.58 ERA. The Chesterton, Ind. native recorded 82 strikeouts in 80.1 innings pitched and held opponents to a measly .201 batting average against.Â
The tall right-hander finished fourth in the BIG EAST in ERA, third in innings pitched and wins and led the league with 33 strikeouts looking.Â
On Wednesday, the Huskies are set to unveil its 2022 schedule and put season tickets out on sale.Â
The BIG EAST Conference is also revealaing its preseason poll and All-Conference team on Wednesday.Â
