Couzis & Mazo Earn All-Region Honors

STORRS, Conn. - Senior Melina Couzis and sophomore Jessica Mazo each landed on the United Coaches East Region Second team All-Region team.

The duo both earned BIG EAST First Team honors after helping the Huskies reach the four-team Big East Championship during the 2021 spring season.

Couzis led the UConn defense to six shutouts while also chipping in one assist. Her leadership and communication on the back line for the Huskies was instrumental to the Huskies 8-3-1 campaign.

Mazo tied for the team lead with three assists and added a pair of goals. Her seven points is third on the Husky squad. The sophomore's three helpers ranked sixth in the league.
