STORRS, Conn. โ The UConn volleyball team will return to full action this fall as head coach Ellen Herman-Kimball announced the Huskies' 2021 schedule Wednesday.
"We are eager to get back to a new normalcy when it comes to competition," Herman-Kimball said. "Our preseason schedule is filled with competitive programs and it will be exciting to play three teams in one weekend again! We got a taste of our return to the BIG EAST this past spring, but have a new element of excitement to tackle the other half of the conference and the new challenges ahead!"
After a shortened season in spring 2021, the Huskies will face a tough schedule this fall, including a full BIG EAST Conference slate in UConn's second season back in the league.
The Huskies will face Northeastern in an exhibition on Aug. 20 in Boston.
UConn will host two non-conference weekends: the UConn Challenge (Sept. 3-4) and the Dog Pound Challenge (Sept. 17-18). The Huskies will take on Lafayette, CCSU and Rutgers in the UConn Challenge and Bryant, NJIT and Yale in the Dog Pound Challenge.
UConn opens the season at Syracuse's tournament on Aug. 27 and 28. The Huskies will face Albany, the Orange and Buffalo in the weekend.
The Huskies round out non-conference play at the Dartmouth Invitational on Sept. 10-11. UConn will face Holy Cross, New Hampshire and Dartmouth.
UConn begins BIG EAST Conference play in Gampel Pavilion on Sept. 24 and 25 against Seton Hall and St. John's, respectively.
The team spends the next two weekends on the road at Marquette, DePaul, Villanova and Georgetown.
The Huskies host two straight conference weekends, beginning with Providence and Creighton on Oct. 14 and 16. The following weekend, UConn hosts Marquette on Oct. 23 and DePaul on Oct. 24.
After a trip to the Midwest to face Xavier and Butler, the Huskies return to Gampel to take on Georgetown and Villanova.
UConn's final road weekend of the season will be at St. John's and Seton Hall. The Huskies host Butler and Xavier in their regular season finales on Nov. 18 and 19.
The BIG EAST Tournament will be held at Marquette in Milwaukee on Nov. 26-27.
UConn notched a 4-7 overall record, including 4-4 in BIG EAST play, in spring 2021. The Huskies made an appearance in the BIG EAST Tournament.
