STORRS, Conn. – UConn women's soccer head coach Margaret Rodriguez announced the addition of transfer junior Cara Elmendorf to the Huskies program Wednesday.
"We are very excited with Cara's commitment," Rodriguez said. "She brings quality experience from club, youth national teams and two seasons in the ACC. She is a powerful player who has the ability to set up and score goals for us across the front line or as an attacking left back. She will add a different dimension to our game with her soccer IQ and technical ability on the ball with her left foot. She is Husky quality and we can't wait to see her impact the BIG EAST."
Elmendorf comes to UConn after playing her first two seasons at NC State. In fall 2021, she appeared in 18 games for the Wolfpack and totaled 522 minutes. Elmendorf scored a goal vs. Oklahoma on Sept. 9. She helped NC State qualify for the NCAA Tournament and advance to the Second Round.
In her first collegiate season in spring 2021, Elmendorf played in all nine matches and earned two starts. She scored her first collegiate goal at VCU on Feb. 28. Elmendorf totaled 382 minutes as a rookie.
Elmendorf was a three-time Dean's List honoree and on the 2020-21 ACC Academic Honor Roll at NC State.
Elmendorf is a native of Lake Mary, Fla. She will wear No. 22 at UConn. Prior to college, she was a member of the U.S. Youth National Team pool in 2016. Elmendorf played club for Florida Krush Kraze and Jacsonville Armada.
