BSB Dealt 7-3 Loss vs. Charlotte

TAMPA, Fla. – The UConn baseball team (1-1) dropped its first game of the season, 7-3, against Charlotte on Saturday afternoon at Red McEwen Field.
The Huskies jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first on an RBI double off the bat of Erik Stock. However, four walks and an error helped the 49ers respond with four runs in their half of the first.
Garrett Coe was a stabilizing presence out of the pen with 2.2 shutouts inning of one hit ball and struck out a pair.
Right-hander Hector Alejandro made his UConn debut with 2.1 scoreless frames and notched four strikeouts in the effort.
The Huskies trimmed the deficit to 5-3 in the fourth after freshman catcher Matt Garbowski powered a two-run homer out to right field.
UConn was unable to complete the comeback as the pitching staff issued 11 walks and the offense left 11 on base.
Next up, the Huskies face off against Louisville on Sunday morning at 9 a.m. The game will be streamed on MIXLR and on Instagram Live (uconnbsb).
