No. 10 UConn Begins Four-Game Home Stand vs. Butler

STORRS, Conn. – The 10th-ranked UConn women's basketball team (14-4, 9-0 BIG EAST) hosts Butler (1-17, 0-9) Friday in Gampel Pavilon at 7 p.m. The game will air on SNY and the UConn Sports Network.

The BIG EAST Conference will celebrate Black History Month in partnership with the Black Fives Foundation, a nonprofit public charity whose mission is to research, preserve, showcase, teach, and honor the pre-NBA history of African Americans in basketball, to host 22 games honoring Black athletes, coaches, and communities who played a critical part in America's basketball history.
UConn women's basketball will wear shooting shirts that honor the Hartford Tigerettes vs. Butler. The Tigerettes were an African American women's basketball team that played from the late-1940s into the mid-1950s and were dominating members of the Connecticut Girls Basketball League.
UConn rallied from down 12 points in the second quarter to beat Creighton. 76-56, Wednesday evening. Senior Olivia Nelson-Ododa led UConn with 17 points, 14 rebounds and six assists. Senior Christyn Williams also scored 17 points vs. the Bluejays. Five Huskies scored in double digits vs. Creighton. Creighton outscored UConn 20-11 in the first quarter but the Huskies were able to climb back to trail just two at halftime, 32-30. UConn outscored Creighton 46-24 in the second half.
UConn is 3-0 all-time vs. Butler. In the teams' first meeting of the season on Jan. 12 in Indianapolis, seniors Christyn Williams and Olivia Nelson-Ododa each notched 19 points and seven rebounds as UConn beat Butler, 92-47.
Butler is currently on a seven-game losing streak, most recently a 78-62 decision to Georgetown last Sunday. This season, Celena Taborn leads the Bulldogs with 13.5 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. Head coach Kurt Godlevske is in his eighth season at Butler.
UConn is back in action Sunday at the XL Center to face No. 7 Tennessee at noon. The game is a WHITE OUT and fans are encouraged to wear white!
