Huskies Set to Host BIG EAST Championship and Alumni Reception

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn men's and women's track & field program will play host to the 2022 BIG EAST Outdoor Championship on Friday and Saturday, May 13-14 at the George J. Sherman Family Sports Complex. Following the awards ceremony on Saturday afternoon, the Huskies will also be hosting a track and field alumni reception.

The conference championship event is open to the public and is free to attend. Parking will be available in the South Garage.

The BIG EAST Outdoor Championship returns to Storrs for the first time since 2007. The Huskies were scheduled to host last spring's title meet in their return season to the conference but the site was moved due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This will mark the fifth time the BIG EAST Championship will be held on the UConn campus (2022, 2007, 2006, 2003, 2002). The Huskies won the title at home in the 2002 season. During their time in the American Athletic Conference, the Huskies hosted the 2015 AAC Outdoor Championship, an event they won on the men's side.

The UConn men and women are looking to make it a clean sweep at the BIG EAST Championships this season after both claimed the 2022 Indoor titles back in February. The UConn men will enter the event as the defending champions after winning the league championship last spring in record breaking fashion in their return to the conference. The Huskies set new BIG EAST records for total team points, piling up 294, and individual event champions with 12 title winners.
