Pair of Huskies set to represent team Canada

Ottawa, Ont. – UConn sophomore catcher Lauren Benson and incoming transfer pitcher, Sam Ryan have been selected to the Canadian Women's National Team roster. They will compete at the 2022 Celebration Tour and the Canada Cup International Softball Championship this summer.
This season, Benson played in 23 games for the Huskies, holding a .250 batting average, and .378 on base percentage with nine hits, and four runs batted in. Ryan, a transfer from Chattanooga State Community College boasted a 1.35 era in 176.2 innings pitched this season with 204 strikeouts. She finished with a 23-5 record in 33 appearances leading her team all the way to the NJCAA Division I Softball Championship. Ryan was named second team All American this season.
The Celebration Tour begins in Ontario on June 16th followed by the Canada Cup in Surrey, B.C. on June 20th.
