UConn Golf Sets Date For Annual Joe Giannelli Classic

STORRS, Conn. --- The UConn Golf Program will host the 35th Annual Joe Giannelli UConn Golf Classic at Shelter Harbor Golf Club in Westerly, R.I., on Monday, Sept. 26, 2022.
The annual event has been an invaluable fundraiser for the UConn golf program for over 30 years. The Huskies, under 15-year head coach Dave Pezzino, have enjoyed unprecedented success, including top finishes in in-season events, representation in the NCAA Men's Golf Championship, and winning the 2021 BIG EAST Conference Championship in UConn's first year returning to the league.
The program's growth and success are the result in a large part because of the generosity of donors through events like the Giannelli Classic.
Shelter Harbor is located on some 400 acres of open space and is the first new private course built in Washington County, R.I., in over 100 years. Located in Westerly and Charlestown, R.I. The course has been ranked among Golf Week's Best Modern Courses in the United States.
The Giannelli Golf Classic is named in honor of the longtime UConn golf coach (1981-2000) Joe Giannelli, who passed away in 2002. The Classic is a day of lunch, golf, prizes, dinner, and plenty of fun.
