Huskies Named ITA All-Academic Team for Ninth-Straight Season

STORRS, Conn. - For the ninth-straight season, the UConn women's tennis program has been recognized by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) as an All-Academic team for achieving a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above for the 2021-22 season.
In addition, seven student-athletes garnered ITA Scholar-Athlete honors for achieving a grade point average of 3.50 or higher for the academic year.
Earning ITA academic honors for the third-straight season was Julieanne Bou (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) along with juniors Caroline Cook (Naples, Fla.) and Denise Lai (Setauket, N.Y.).
Earning recognition for the second-striaght season was junior Doga Selen Takunyaci (Istanbul, Turkey) and sophomore Leonie Hoppe (Munich, Germany). And earning a place on the ITA scholar athlete team for the first time was sophomore Aleksandra Karamyshev (Ashton, Md.) and freshman Isabel Petri Bere (Lund, Sweden).
To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, one must meet the following requirements:
- have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year
- be listed on the institutional eligibility form
To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must meet the following requirements:
- have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale),
- all student-athletes included should be listed on the institutional eligibility form, and
- all varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year
