STORRS, Conn. – UConn women's soccer head coach Margaret Rodriguez announced the signing of Neeley Heilman to the incoming freshman class on Tuesday.
"We are very excited about this late addition to our roster," Rodriguez said. "Heilman will look to compete in the defensive midfield or defensive positions on the field. She has experience at the youth national identification camps in her earlier years as a club player in Florida. We are eager to see her develop in our environment here at UConn."
Heilman is a defender from Valrico, Fla. She will major in exercise science at UConn. In high school, she was in the National Honor Society and Beta Club and earned an AP Scholar Award, AP Research Certificate and a bilingual diploma (French).
Heilman attended Bloomingdale High School and played for Florida Premier FC.
She also competed in varsity swimming, helping the team to the regional championship and the Western Conference championship. Heilman won the Perseverance in Sport Award.
Heilman is the daughter of John and Jillian Heilman. She has two siblings: Ben and Halle.
Heilman joins eight additional Huskies in UConn's exciting freshman class as the team looks to grow on last year's BIG EAST Championship appearance.
