Huskies Run 4th at Iona Meet of Champions

BRONX, NY – The UConn women's cross country team ran at the Iona Meet of Champions on Friday morning at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, NY.Â
The Huskies, running with a smaller lineup on Friday, finished fourth in the field of nine teams. UConn had two runners place in the top-10 and finished with 103 total points. More importantly, the Huskies had a chance to preview the course that will be the site for this year's NCAA Northeast Regional Championship in November.
Freshman Maddie Sweeney (New Milford, CT) was the Huskies' top-finisher with an eighth place finish, matching her top-placing of the season from back at the Marist Season Opener. Sweeney posted a new PR time of 18:55.2 on the 5K course.
Grad student Celia Chacko (Newington, CT) made her season debut and finished in 10th place overall, clocking in at 19:16.40. Rounding out UConn's top-five was freshman Megan Perrotta (Berlin, CT) was 27th in 19:49.00, freshman Ally McCarthy (Sandy Hook, CT) was 30th in 19:56.30 and sophomore Danielle Adams (East Hampton, CT) was 39th in 20:36.30.

The Huskies are back in action Friday, September 30th when they take part in the Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh University.
