SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – UConn redshirt junior guard Paige Bueckers was named to the 20-player watch list for the 2024 Ann Meyers Drysdale Award, as announced by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association on Monday.
Named after the first player, male or female, selected to an All-America Team in four straight college seasons, the annual award in its seventh year recognizes the top shooting guard in women's NCAA Division I college basketball. A national committee of top college basketball personnel determined the watch list of 20 candidates.
After missing last season due to injury, Bueckers is set to resume her prolific collegiate career this year. She was the first freshman to be named consensus National Player of the Year in 2021 and was also a First Team All-American. The Hopkins, Minn., native is averaging 18.0 points, 5.1 assists and 4.5 rebounds at UConn.
Bueckers was named the Nancy Lieberman Award winner as national point guard of the year in 2021.
UConn alumna Christyn Williams won the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award in 2022.
The Naismith Starting Five watch lists are being announced this week. Additional awards being presented include the Nancy Lieberman Award (Point Guard), Cheryl Miller Award (Small Forward), Katrina McClain Award (Power Forward) and the Lisa Leslie Award (Center).
UConn senior Nika Mühl was named to the Lieberman Award watch list on Monday.
