No. 17 Huskies to Face TMU for Edwards’ Homecoming

STORRS, Conn. – The 17th-ranked UConn women's basketball team (8-3) travels North to face Toronto Metropolitan (10-0) Wednesday at 6 p.m. in Mattamy Athletic Centre. The game will air on FS2 and the UConn Sports Network from Learfield (The River 105.9).
Edwards is a native of Kingston, Ontario. She has represented Canada Basketball since 2017 and was the youngest member of Canada's 2020 Olympic team. This summer, Edwards led Canada to bronze at the 2023 FIBA AmeriCup.
In her four seasons at UConn, Edwards has compiled 1,385 career points and 767 career rebounds.
UConn opened BIG EAST Conference play with an 88-62 win over Butler on Monday. Freshman Ashlynn Shade broke out for 22 points, a new career high, vs. the Bulldogs. Shade is a native of Noblesville, Ind. Redshirt junior Paige Bueckers scored 16 points and had a season-high seven assists. Edwards had her third double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Wednesday's game will count toward UConn's record and the stats will count for the team and student-athletes. The game will not count toward UConn's NCAA resume or NET rankings.
This is the first meeting between UConn and TMU. The Huskies previously played in Mattamy Athletic Centre for Kia Nurse's homecoming game on Dec. 21, 2017.
Toronto Metropolitan competes in Ontario University Athletics (OUA), which is part of U SPORTS, the national governing body of university sports in Canada. The Bold last played on Dec. 2, a 56-46 win over Waterloo. This season, Jayme Foreman leads TMU with 16.3 points per game. Head coach Carly Clarke is in her 12th season at TMU.
