Payton Kinney Named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week, Aziah James & Lexi Hastings earn Honor Roll

STORRS, Conn. – Three Huskies have received BIG EAST honors this week for their performances at Providence over the weekend. Payton Kinney was named Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season. Aziah James and Lexi Hastings earned Honor Roll for the first time this season.
Kinney was dominant in the circle this weekend for the Huskies. In her two appearances, she held a 0.00 era, holding opponents to a .174 batting average, adding twelve strikeouts. In game one on Friday Kinney was stellar in her six inning performance striking out eleven Friar hitters and earning her third win of the season.
James continues to produce for the Huskies in her graduate season. This past weekend she led the Huskies with a .556 batting average, driving in four runs, and scoring three. In game one on Friday, she went a perfect 4-4 with a game high four hits and two runs batted in. She was 4-4 on stolen bases adding to her team high of 18 on the season tied with teammate Lexi Hastings.
Hastings could not be kept off the base paths this past weekend as she held a team high .667 on base percentage, stealing six bases adding to her team high of 18. She led the Huskies with six runs batted in on the weekend, with five coming in the series finale alone. In game three, she hit a three run home run, pushing the Huskies past the Friars for the series win. She finished the weekend with a .429 batting average, and a 1.000 slugging percentage, adding five runs scored.
The Huskies will be back home tomorrow afternoon as they welcome the Boston College Eagles to Burrill Family Field. First pitch is set for 4:00pm. Tickets are available HERE.
