ATLANTA – Junior Aaliyah Edwards and graduate student Lou Lopez Sénéchal were selected WBCA Region 4 Finalists, as announced by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association Wednesday.
Edwards and Lopez Sénéchal are now eligible for 2023 WBCA NCAA Division I Coaches' All-America team honors, which will be announced later this month.
The duo are the only Huskies who have played in each game this season, providing stability in a season filled with injuries and lineup changes.
Edwards has stepped up as an upperclassman, averaging career highs with 17.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game. She is shooting 58.9 percent from the field this year.
Edwards was named an AP and USBWA Third Team All-American last week. She is the 2023 BIG EAST Most Improved Player and an All-BIG EAST First Team selection. Edwards was named the BIG EAST Tournament's Most Outstanding Player.
In her only season in Storrs, Lopez Sénéchal has made a tremendous impact for UConn. She is averaging 15.3 points per game. She ranks 10th nationally with a 43.5 three-point percentage.
Lopez Sénéchal was named All-BIG EAST First Team and to the BIG EAST All-Tournament Team.
The sixth-ranked and second-seeded UConn will compete in the program's 29th straight Sweet 16 when the Huskies face No. 12-ranked and No. 3-seed Ohio State this Saturday at 4 p.m. in Seattle. The game will air on ABC.
