Grace Jenkins named BIG EAST Player of the Week, Savannah Ring earns Honor Roll

STORRS, Conn. – Two UConn freshmen have received BIG EAST honors this week for their performances at the Liberty Invitational this past weekend. Grace Jenkins was named Freshman of the week for the second time this season. Savannah Ring received Honor Roll for the second time this year.
Jenkins continues to produce in the heart of the Huskies lineup in her freshman season. In both games against Iona on Sunday, she had multiple hits, with a run scored in each game. For the weekend, she held a .455 batting average, with a .727 slugging percentage including three extra base hits and two runs batted in adding to her team high twelve on the season.
Ring led the Huskies with five hits this weekend, including two multi-hit games. She finished the weekend with a .417 batting average driving in two runs and scoring three herself. Ring was two for two on stolen bases adding to her total of eight on the season.
The Huskies kick off their BIG EAST slate this week as they welcome Seton Hall to Storrs for Opening weekend. Tickets are available HERE.
