UConn Alums Set for 2023 WNBA Season

STORRS, Conn. – Fifteen former UConn women's basketball players are on rosters as the 2023 WNBA season kicks off Friday.
Huskies on WNBA rosters include Diana Taurasi, Moriah Jefferson and Evina Westbrook (Phoenix Mercury); Breanna Stewart and Stefanie Dolson (New York Liberty), Tiffany Hayes and Olivia Nelson-Ododa (Connecticut Sun), Napheesa Collier and Dorka Juhász (Minnesota Lynx), Crystal Dangerfield and Lou Lopez Sénéchal (Dallas Wings), Azurá Stevens and Katie Lou Samuelson (Los Angeles Sparks), Kia Nurse (Seattle Storm) and Kiah Stokes (Las Vegas Aces).
Stokes won her first WNBA Finals last season with the Las Vegas Aces.
Juhász and Lopez Sénéchal will make their WNBA debuts this season. Lopez Sénéchal will undergo knee surgery next week, delaying her debut.
UConn has had 45 WNBA college draft selections since the league's inception in 1997, the most for a collegiate program. Nineteen former Huskies have won a total of 33 WNBA championships. Four Huskies have been named WNBA MVPs (Diana Taurasi, Tina Charles, Maya Moore, Breanna Stewart).
The first games of the WNBA season include the Connecticut Sun at Indiana Fever and New York Liberty at Washington Mystics at 7 p.m. The Chicago Sky face the Minnesota Lynx at 8 p.m. and the Phoenix Mercury take on the Los Angeles Sparks at 11 p.m.
On Saturday, the Atlanta Dream play the Dallas Wings at 1 p.m. and the reigning WNBA Champion Las Vegas Aces face the Seattle Storm at 3 p.m.
