STORRS, Conn. -Â The New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association announced its major award winners and All-New England teams last week.Â
The Huskies were selected as the Division I Team of the Year after winning 44 games this season, a BIG EAST regular season championship, reached the NCAA Tournament for the fifth-straight year and were in the Natonal polls for 10 weeks with their top ranking being No. 9 in the country by D1Baseball.com. It is the ninth time under head coach Jim Penders that the Huskies have been the NEIBA team of the Year.Â
Head coach Jim Penders earned NEIBA DI Coach of the Year honors along with the Andy Baylock Award, given to a person who has significantly contributed to the betterment of New England College Baseball. For Penders, it is the fifth time that he has received NEIBA Coach of the Year honors.Â
Jake Studley, Luke Broadhurst and Zach Fogell all earned Second Team All-New England honors.Â
