Bueckers Named to Ann Meyers Drysdale Top 10

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – UConn women's basketball redshirt junior Paige Bueckers was one of 10 candidates for the 2024 Ann Meyers Drysdale Award, as announced by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association Tuesday.
Named after the first player, male or female, named to an All-America Team in four straight college seasons, the annual award, now in its seventh year, recognizes the top shooting guard in women's NCAA Division I college basketball.
After missing the 2022-23 season to injury, Bueckers has returned with a bang this year. She leads UConn with 19.8 points per game and is also averaging 4.7 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 2.3 steals and 1.1 block per game.
The Hopkins, Minn., native is currently shooting 56.5% from the field and 47.6% from three-point range. She ranks fifth nationally in three-point percentage, and her field goal percentage is the second highest nationally for a guard.
Bueckers has scored 20+ points in 11 games this season. When scoring 20+ points this season, she is averaging 24.8 points while shooting 62.7% and 60.8% from three.
Against top-25 opponents this season, Bueckers is averaging 23.3 points, 3.6 rebounds 3.6 assists, 1.7 blocks and 2.9 steals per game while shooting 57.3% and 59.5% from three.
Bueckers was the 2021 Nancy Lieberman Award recipient as the nation's top point guard.
UConn alumna Christyn Williams won the Meyers Drysdale Award in 2022.

In March, five finalists will be presented to Meyers Drysdale and the Hall of Fame's selection committee. The Selection Committee for the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award is composed of top women's college basketball personnel, including media members, head coaches, sports information directors, and Hall of Famers.
The winner of the 2024 Meyers Drysdale Award will be presented on a to be determined date, along with the four other members of the Women's Starting Five. Additional awards being presented include the Nancy Lieberman Award (Point Guard), Cheryl Miller Award (Small Forward), the Katrina McClain Award (Power Forward), and the Lisa Leslie Award (Center), in addition to the Men's Starting Five.
