SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – UConn women's basketball senior Aaliyah Edwards was selected to the 10-player 2024 Katrina McClain Award candidate list, as announced by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association Thursday.
Named after the two-time All-American and 1987 National Player of the Year, the annual award, in its seventh year, recognizes the top power forwards in women's NCAA Division I college basketball.
Edwards has started all 20 games for the Huskies this season, stepping up as UConn's primary post player. She is averaging 16.4 points and 8.3 rebounds per game while shooting 59.0% from the field. Edwards has eight double-doubles on the season, good for the most in the BIG EAST.
The Kingston, Ontario, native has scored in double digits in 18 games this year. In UConn's current 13-game win streak, Edwards is averaging 16.9 points and 9.2 rebounds per game.

In March, the five finalists will be presented to McClain and the Hall of Fame's selection committee. The Selection Committee for the Katrina McClain Award is composed of top women's college basketball personnel, including media members, head coaches, sports information directors, and Hall of Famers.
