Huskies to Host Fort Hays State in Exhibition

STORRS, Conn. – The second-ranked UConn women's basketball team returns to Gampel Pavilion to host Division II Fort Hays State in an exhibition on Sunday at noon.
The game will air locally on The WAX (WWAX). It will also be available to stream for free everywhere on UConn+. Sunday's game will be broadcast through the UConn Sports Network from Learfield (FOX Sports 97-9).
Redshirt senior Paige Bueckers returns for a final season in Storrs to lead the Huskies in 2024-25. UConn also returns redshirt senior Aubrey Griffin, redshirt junior Azzi Fudd, redshirt junior Caroline Ducharme, sophomore Ashlynn Shade and sophomore KK Arnold, who have all been starters for the Huskies.
Key contributors redshirt sophomore Ice Brady, redshirt sophomore Ayanna Patterson and sophomore Qadence Samuels will also contribute to the Huskies this season. Redshirt freshman Jana El Alfy, who enrolled at UConn in December 2022 but has yet to play at UConn, will make her debut this season.
UConn features four newcomers this season. Graduate student Kaitlyn Chen, the 2023 Ivy League Player of the Year, joins the Huskies from Princeton. UConn has ESPN's No. 2-ranked freshman class, which includes No. 1-ranked Sarah Strong, No. 7-ranked Allie Ziebell and No. 11-ranked Morgan Cheli.
The Huskies were picked as the BIG EAST Conference favorites in the Preseason Coaches' Poll.
UConn is ranked second in both the AP and WBCA preseason polls.
The Huskies returned to the NCAA Final Four for the program's record 23rd appearance. Despite numerous injuries throughout the season, the Huskies won both the BIG EAST regular season and tournament titles, led by All-Americans Bueckers and Aaliyah Edwards.
