NEW YORK – The UConn women's basketball team will compete in the first-ever Women's Champions Classic, a new early-season college basketball showcase created by HS&E and FOX Sports. The 2024 event will feature a primetime doubleheader on FOX on Saturday, Dec. 7, at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
Initial plans call for an annual event featuring UConn in an early season showcase that will include a rotation of some of the most storied programs in women's college basketball. The first event also includes Iowa, Louisville and Tennessee.
We're very excited to have the Women's Champions Classic on our schedule for the foreseeable future," head coach Geno Auriemma said. "There's never been a higher level of interest in women's basketball. The Champions Classic will give fans exciting, marquee matchups early in the season."
