Edwards Named BIG EAST Player of the Week

NEW YORK – UConn women's basketball senior forward Aaliyah Edwards was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week after leading the Huskies to two conference wins, the league announced Monday.
Edwards averaged 21.0 points, 13.0 rebounds 3.0 steals and 2.0 blocks per game in wins over Xavier and Georgetown while shooting 66.7%.
At Xavier, Edwards scored 16 points on 7-for-11 shooting and grabbed 10 rebounds. Against Georgetown, she led the game with 26 points on 11-for-16 shooting. She also had a season-high 16 rebounds and tied her career high with four steals.
This is Edwards' third BIG EAST Player of the Week honor this season.
Edwards has leveled up her game recently. In her last 10 games, she's averaging 20.3 points and 10.9 rebounds while shooting 62.7% with seven double-doubles. In her last five games, Edwards is averaging 22.6 points, 13.2 rebounds and a 65.7 shooting percentage.
The 15th-ranked Huskies (22-5, 14-0 BIG EAST) host No. 20 Creighton (21-3, 12-2) today at noon. The game will air on FOX and the UConn Sports Network (FOX Sports 97.9).
