SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – UConn women's basketball redshirt junior Paige Bueckers was selected as one of five finalists for the 2024 Ann Meyers Drysdale Award, the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame announced Tuesday.
In its seventh year, the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award honors the top shooting guard in women's NCAA Division I college basketball. It is named after the Class of 1993 Hall of Famer, the first player, regardless of gender, to be chosen for an All-America Team in four consecutive college seasons.
Bueckers is averaging a career-high 20.7 points per game this season and has notched 20 20-point games. She has been extremely efficient this season, posting a .540/.412/.860 shooting split.
Against top-25 opponents this season, Bueckers is averaging 22.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.8 blocks and 2.7 steals while shooting 51.3% from the field and 51.9% from three-point range.
The Hopkins, Minn., native leads the 10th-ranked Huskies in points and blocks and is second on the team in rebounds, assists and steals.
Bueckers won the 2021 Nancy Lieberman Award as the nation's top point guard. If she earns the Drysdale Award, she would be the first-ever player to win two different positional awards.
UConn alumna Christyn Williams won the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award in 2022.
