Dear UConn Nation,
It's a great time to be a Husky! The 2024-25 fall season is off to a fabulous start for our teams. There have been remarkable, record-breaking performances worth sharing and highlighting.
Our volleyball team went undefeated in non-conference play and is 12-0, the best start in school history. The squad's 7 home wins included the first sellout in its new on-campus competition venue, the UConn Volleyball Center.
Field Hockey's 7-1 mark is the best since 2019, and we are back in the national polls (#14), where we belong.
On the pitch, Men's and Women's Soccer are turning heads. Our men have stormed to an undefeated 6-0-1 record and are ranked #25 in the country. At 6-1-2, the women won six straight before tying St. John's on the road to open Big East play.
In Women's Cross Country, senior Chloe Thomas set a meet record with a time of 19:51 at the Spiked Shoe Invitational at Penn State on September 13, earning her Big East Female Athlete of the Week honors.
The football team has shown its ability to be explosive, breaking or tying school records for offensive production. Our 624 yards of total offense against Merrimack in the home opener was a school record, and the 56 points in the first half was an FBS school record. This past Saturday against FAU, our ground game racked up 421 rushing yards, an FBS record and the second highest total in school history. With two wins in four games, the team continues its six-game home stand with a matchup against Buffalo this weekend. We need to pack The Rent for this critical stretch and look forward to seeing you and hearing you in the stands.
The historic and impressive efforts this far by our fall squads are a testament to the coaches and staff that promote overall academic and athletic excellence every day, as well as the student-athletes whose spirit and determination makes us all so proud.
