Strong, Bueckers Lead No. 6 UConn Past Creighton

STORRS, Conn. – Freshman Sarah Strong had a double-double and redshirt senior Paige Bueckers had her 11th 20-point game of the season to lead the sixth-ranked UConn women's basketball team (19-2, 10-0 BIG EAST) past Creighton (16-4, 8-1), 72-61, Saturday evening in the CHI Health Center Omaha.
Strong notched her fifth double-double of the season with 26 points and 12 rebounds while adding four blocks and five steals.
Bueckers scored 22 points and added five rebounds and four assists. Nineteen of Bueckers' points came in the second half.
UConn forced 18 Creighton turnovers and scored 17 points off turnovers. The Huskies went 12-13 from the free throw line, led by 8-8 shooting from Strong.
UConn and Creighton will face off again on Feb. 27 in the XL Center in Hartford.
The Huskies are back in action at DePaul (10-11, 5-3) next Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET on SNY.
