Softball Signs Seven To The Class of 2030

STORRS, Conn. -Â UConn Softball Head Coach Laura Valentino has announced the addition of seven student-athletes to the class of 2030 on Wednesday afternoon.Â
The class consists of Hannah Evans (OF), Riley Greene (INF), Abby Luis (INF), Jordan McCue (OF), Angela Sasso (Pitcher), Delaney Vannoy (Pitcher), and Lulu West (Pitcher).
"This 2026 class embodies everything that defines UConn Softball — energy, grit, passion, and a relentless work ethic," said Valentino. "With their competitiveness, versatility, and championship mindset, they will help us continue to build a dominant dynasty within our program and will continue to raise our standards."
Meet the Incoming Class
Hannah Evans (Elizabeth, Pennsylvania)Â
Hannah arrives in Storrs after lettering four seasons under Head Coach Harry Rutherford at Elizabeth Forward High School. Evans is an All-County and All-State player. In 2024, she led her team to a District Championship. In her career, she has a .408 batting average, and .466 on-base percentage. Evans also holds letters in volleyball. Â
Head Coach Laura Valentino – "Hannah plays the game with an aggressive edge and a fearless mindset, bringing relentless energy to every pitch. Her competitive mindset and all-out defensive play embody the values and standards of UConn Softball."
Riley Greene (St. George, Utah)
Riley comes to UConn after lettering four seasons at Desert Hill High School for Head Coach Heidi Taylor. Greene is a three-time First Team All-Region and multi-time All-State selection. She has led Desert Hills to three straight Region Championships from 2023-2025. In three seasons, Greene has posted a .470 batting average, recording 135 hits, 107 RBI, and 131 runs scored. She also holds letters in soccer and basketball.  Â
Head Coach Laura Valentino – "Riley's relentless positivity and passion for the game make her a leader both vocally and by example. She's a tough out, a fierce competitor, and a perfect fit for a program built on energy, toughness, and championship drive."
Abby Luis (Redondo Beach, California)
Abby becomes a Husky after lettering four seasons under Head Coach Joylyn Ramian at Redondo Union High School. Luis was ranked the 9th best third baseman in the Class of 2026, and the 73rd best player nationally by Extra Innings Softball. She is a two-time team captain, and All-League player. In 2025, she was named Redondo's Offensive MVP, posting a .565 batting average, and .652 on-base percentage with four home runs. For her career, she has hit above a .400 batting average in each of her first three seasons, recording 14 total home runs. Luis also holds letters in girls flag football.Â
Head Coach Laura Valentino – "Abby's contagious energy and explosive bat are evident every time she steps on the field. She's a clutch hitter with a championship work ethic and I am looking forward to coaching her drive to always be a champion."
Jordan McCue (Cheshire, Connecticut)
Jordan arrives in Storrs after lettering four seasons at Cheshire High School for Head Coach Kristine Drust. McCue led Cheshire to a CIAC Class LL State Championship in 2025, leading the team in batting average, RBI, stolen bases, and doubles. Her stellar junior season landed her on the All-State team and First Team All-Southern Connecticut Conference.

Angela Sasso (Freehold, New Jersey)
Angela comes to UConn after lettering four seasons under Head Coach Anthony Iachello at Colts Neck High School in Colts Neck, New Jersey. Sasso was ranked the 37th best pitcher nationally according to Extra Innings and was the A North Shore Conference Pitcher of the Year in 2025. She is the all-time strikeout leader in school history, and the All-Shore doubles leader. Sasso is currently serving as team captain and is a multi-time First Team All-Shore player.Â

Delaney Vannoy (Leander, Texas)
Delaney becomes a Husky after lettering four seasons for Head Coach Brenda Samuels at Rouse High School in Leander, Texas. Vannoy is a three-time All-District player and was recently selected to the All-State First team in 2025. Last season, she earned a spot on the TCCA All-Star Team and the Austin Sports Journal All-Metro Team. Vannoy was a nominee for the Austin Statesmen Softball Player of the Year in 2023.Â

Lulu West (St. George, Utah)
Lulu arrives in Storrs after lettering four seasons under Head Coach Heidi Taylor at Desert Hills High School in St. George, Utah. West is a two-time Region MVP, and Desert Hills Softball Athlete of the Year (2024 & 2025). She has led Desert Hills to three straight Region Championships from 2023-2025. West has a career 2.08 era in the circle, recording 507 strikeouts. At the plate, she also owns a career .389 batting average with 21 home runs and a .470 on-base percentage. West has also earned letters in basketball.
Head Coach Laura Valentino – "Lulu brings a dominant mentality and a refuse-to-lose attitude every time she steps in the circle. Her consistent presence and ability to keep hitters off balance show the championship mindset and focus we value at UConn."
