In 2024, Bradley Sawka earned Big East Freshman of the Year honors after an impressive first season for the UConn Huskies. However, his sophomore season didn't go as planned, prompting the Ellington Ridge Country Club member to go back to the drawing board.
So after his sophomore season ended and before the 2025 CSGA summer season got into full swing, Sawka went to his coach, Matt McCullough, with a simple request: "Change whatever you want."
2025 Dick Tettelbach Player of the Year Standings
Sawka made some major changes, and they took a while to click, but once they did, they immediately paid dividends as Sawka made a run to the finals of the 123rd Connecticut Amateur.
Despite the defeat in the finals, Sawka had found what he was looking for, and his summer was just getting started. Sawka would go on to capture three One Day titles, finish fourth at the Four-Ball Championship, tied for seventh at the Tournament of Champions, and maybe most impressively finished fourth at the 91st Connecticut Open presented by Ascend Bank on his way to earning low amateur honors.
Sawka finished his summer brimming with confidence and as the 2025 Dick Tettelbach Player of the Year.
"Winning the Dick Tettelbach Player of the Year award means so much," Sawka expressed. "Having my dad (John) on my bag at the Connecticut Amateur and the Connecticut Open and the support of my family definitely makes it even more special. It means a lot to be able to represent the CSGA. It's definitely a cool feeling."
