Strong, Fudd Named to Wooden Award Late Midseason Watch List

LOS ANGELES – UConn women's basketball sophomore forward Sarah Strong and graduate student Azzi Fudd were named to the 2025-26 Women's late Midseason Top 20 Watch List, as announced by the Los Angeles Athletic Club Tuesday.
Selected by a panel of national college basketball experts, the list comprises 20 student-athletes who are frontrunners for the most prestigious honors in college basketball: the Wooden Award All-American Team and the Wooden Award Most Outstanding Player.
Strong leads UConn in points, rebounds, assists, blocks and steals this season and is currently averaging a .601/.394/.909 shooting split. She's averaging 19.2 points per game in 27.4 minutes per game compared to 16.4 in 28.6 last season.
Against top-25 opponents this season, Strong is averaging 20.0 points, 10.6 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 3.0 steals per game.
Strong ranks eighth nationally in steals (81), 11th in field goal percentage (60.1) and 24th in assist-turnover ratio (2.25).
Strong was named a Katrina McClain Award top-10 candidate and to the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year Watch List.
Fudd is averaging 17.4 points per game this season while shooting 48.9%, 44.8% from three and 94.9% from the free throw line.
Fudd's points per game, field goal percentage and three-point percentage are all career highs. She's already set single-season career highs this season in assists (76) and steals (60).
Against top-25 opponents this season, Fudd is averaging 24.4 points per game on a .500/.468/1.000 shooting split.
Fudd ranks ninth nationally in three pointers made 73) and 15th in three-point percentage (44.8).
Fudd was named an Ann Meyers Drysdale Award top-10 candidate.
Four Huskies have won the Wooden Award six times: Maya Moore (2009, '11), Tina Charles (2010), Breanna Stewart (2015, '16) and Paige Bueckers (2021).
