Huskies Finish Eighth at Surf Club Invite

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC - The UConn men's golf team wrapped up play in the 2026 Surf Club Invitational on Tuesday afternoon, finishing eighth overall in the 18 team field.
The Huskies finished with a three-round total of 847 (-5) to take eighth on the leader board, a stroke behind Rhode Island in seventh and five back from Butler in sixth place. Georgia State took home the team title at the event with a team score of 815 (-37). The Huskies posted a 279 (-5) during Monday's first round, their lost combined round of the spring season so far. UConn's second round, which carried over into Tuesday morning, was a 286 (+2) but the Huskies rebounded to shoot 282 (-2) over the final 18 holes on Tuesday afternoon.
The UConn duo of sophomore Matt Costello (Taunton, MA) and junior Bradley Sawka (Ellington, CT) led the Huskies by both finishing tied for 21st on the leaderboard. Costello shot a one-under 70 over round one and then posted his lowest round of the season in round two, carding a five-under 66. He rounded out his tournament with a 73 on Tuesday afternoon to finish at 209.Â
Sawka shot matching 68's in round one and three and posted a 73 in round two to finish at 209 as well. Senior Connor Goode (Glastonbury, CT) finished tied for 39th, shooting 213. He posted a four under 67 on Monday's first round and then shot back-to-back 73's over the final two rounds.
Rounding out the UConn lineup was sophomore Caden Blanchette (Manchester, PA) in 69th with a 220 (76-74-70) and sophomore Kai-Jun Huang (Taipei, Taiwan) also in 69th at 220 (74-75-71). Freshman Brennan Korn (Scottsdale, AZ) finished 74th while playing as an individual and posting a 221 (72-74-75).
The Huskies are back in action when they head out west in two weeks to play in the Bridgestone Collegiate Invitational at Silverado Resort in Napa, CA on March 23 and 24.
