Day 1 of 2018 American Athletic Conference Football Media Days in Newport, R.I. is in the books and representatives of the UConn football team had a busy day. After a morning workout on campus, Matt Peart, Marshe Terry and Donovan Williams departed Storrs at approximately 10:45 a.m. and met head coach Randy Edsall in scenic Newport around 12:45 p.m.
Peart fielded questions about mental health awareness from the American Athletic Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Council and then did the same with the National Football Foundation. Terry and Williams visited with the American Digital Network prior to all three Huskies posing for photos. Edsall went through a similar ringer prior to a lively interview with Rob Dibble and Ben Darnell on 97.9 ESPN Radio. All three student-athletes followed on the Rob Dibble Show. The Huskies then enjoyed some free time prior to the annual Clambake dinner.
The Huskies finished off the American Athletic Conference Media Day experience with a packed morning of activities. The players and Randy Edsall began the day by suiting up and flashing their smiles with the rest of the conference in group photos.
American Athletic Conference Commissioner Mike Aresco then addressed the media at 9 a.m. before the players and Coach Edsall went through the gauntlet of print and TV interviews. The quartet talked about goals, mindset and excitement as the team enters the 2018 campaign while also answering some fun questions from the press.
Randy Edsall joined the Coaches Roundtable Segment with ESPN personality Kevin Negandhi discussing a variety of topics about the Huskies, American Athletic Conference and the landscape of College Football.
Meanwhile, the players let loose their personalities at the American Social Media Station snapping goofy photos with an assortment of social media props. The players closed out the event by playing a classic game of Operation.
