2025-26 Basketball Seat Selection Process FAQs

I have annually renewed my same seats for several years and am concerned about having to go through a seat selection process. Why is this being done?
The restructuring of the lower level seating area in Gampel Pavilion involves the introduction of various different physical seat types, which is typical in arenas across the country. This seating renovation will enhance the gameday experience for our loyal supporters. As such, with a new seat map, it would not be possible to overlay season ticket holders into the exact same seats as previously held. While our normal protocol is for season ticket holders to renew their seats annually, there are circumstances which may periodically arise, like the Gampel upgrade project currently underway, which trigger a diversion from the regular renewal process. We recognize the anxiousness that may accompany situations involving change, but please know that we will always make best efforts to be as fair and accommodating to all of our season ticket holders as possible, within the established process and consistent with Husky Athletic Fund donor policies and guidelines.
When will the seat selection process occur?
The seat selection process is planned for the late spring/early summer of 2025 for both Gampel Pavilion and XL Center. Specific timing for the process will be shared in forthcoming communications.
Who will be impacted by the seating changes?
With the significant changes to the physical structure of various seating areas in both Gampel Pavilion and XL Center, it will be necessary for all current season ticket holders in the lower and upper levels, no matter your current seat location, to partake in the seat selection process.
Is there a diagram or map of the new seating configuration?
Seating diagrams, maps, pricing and more details will be available in the coming months. We will continue to keep our season ticket holders posted as more information becomes available.
How will timeslots for the seat selection process be determined?
Consistent with Husky Athletic Fund guidelines, we will endeavor to make the selection process fair and equitable, while maintaining our core philosophy to accommodate as many of our dedicated donors as possible. Seat selection timeslots will be first allotted to Husky Athletic Fund donors who have made lifetime cash (not pledged) gifts of $1 million or more to UConn Athletics, followed by donors at large, based on priority points.
Will there be different seat selection timeslots for each building? And for men’s basketball and women’s basketball?
You will receive one timeslot, in which you can select seats for each building and sport for which you hold season tickets. We are providing one timeslot out of respect for your time and schedule, as opposed to having you reserve multiple days/times for this process. Additionally, one timeslot allows you to maintain your priority, no matter the venues in which you hold season tickets.
I am worried that fans who haven’t previously held season tickets will buy tickets during the seat selection process and cause my seats to worsen. Should I be concerned?
Only those patrons who currently hold basketball season tickets will participate in the seat selection process. By doing so, we can help to ensure that our existing season ticket holders have the first priority on available seats. If seats remain after current season ticket holders participate in process, interested buyers will then have the ability to purchase season tickets.
As a current season ticket holder, is there a chance I get shut out from the opportunity to purchase seats?
Current season ticket holders will have the opportunity to select seats in their existing venue, but only for the same number of seats they currently hold. Adding seats in the same venue or purchasing tickets for another venue will not be allowed to ensure that all current season ticket holders have access to seats in the selection process. New patrons will not be able to participate in the seat selection process and cannot purchase season tickets until after the process is completed, should they still be available. As such, we project that all current season ticket holders will be able to select seats during the seat selection process, before inventory is exhausted.
How do I increase my priority point total in order to improve my timeslot for the seat selection process?
You can increase your priority points by donating to the Husky Athletic Fund, which may possibly improve your timeslot. When is the deadline for making a gift in order to maximize my point total for the seat selection process?
Cash gifts made prior to March 31, 2025 will be applied to your overall priority point total for the process.
Will ticket prices and/or seat donation amounts be changing in conjunction with these renovations to the buildings?
It is anticipated that there will be a revised pricing structure, to reflect the differentiation in seating location and physical chair type. We will endeavor, as always, to provide various offerings throughout the venues which fit every budget. More information will be forthcoming, in future communications.
Will I be able to purchase additional season tickets?
In an effort to be as equitable as possible, and accommodate the seating wishes for as many donors as we can, additional season tickets will not be available for purchase during the seat selection process. Seating selections for the 2025-26 will be based upon your current number of season tickets in each building.
How will the renewal process work for the 2025-26 season?
Patrons will not receive a renewal notice before the 2025-26 season. During the seat selection process, patrons will select and pay for their desired seats at the same time.
My season tickets are next to a friend, who has a separate account. We would like to sit together. How can we accomplish this?
If you and your friend want to sit together, we encourage you both to enter seat selection process during the timeslot of the season ticket holder with the least number of priority points. By going in at the same time, you can communicate and select adjacent to or as near as possible to each other. It is important to remember, however, that the patron with the higher number of points might see some seat degradation since the original timeslot will be foregone. In the alternative, the individual with the lower number of priority points can make a gift, in order to elevate priority points to the level of the individual with the higher point total.
Will I be able to select seats generally similar to what I’ve had in the past?
It is difficult to answer this question since the seat availability is based, in part, on what donors who precede you in the process select. Should similar seats be available when our timeslot arrives, you may certainly select your desired seats.
If I don’t like my seats after this year’s process, will there be a future seat relocation process so I can possibly change my seats?
Yes. We will schedule an annual seat upgrade process in the summer, to give patrons an opportunity to view available seats and change seats, if desired. Of course, availability may be limited but there will be an opportunity in the future.
What seating changes will be occurring in Gampel Pavilion?
In 2025-26, the entire lower-level seating structure, which has been in place since Gampel opened in 1990, will be replaced. New chairback seats will be present throughout the non-student seating areas in the lower bowl, in addition to handrails in the aisles to enhance the gameday experience for our loyal season ticket holders.
What seating changes are happening to XL Center?
In 2025-26, there will be notable upgrades to selected seating areas and new premium seating options, including club seats and suites. Details will be provided as we learn more information about the XL Center renovations.
