UConn Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Greg Roy announced the addition of Erica Ferguson to the Huskies' coaching staff in 2019-20. Ferguson will serve as an assistant coach for track and field program and work with the Hurdles, Horizontal Jumps and Sprints.Â
"I am definitely honored to be joining the Husky nation and family," stated Ferguson. "It is an exciting time for the program especially with the transition to combining both track and field programs. I just want to thank the UConn administration and Coach Roy for giving me the opportunity to be a part of this. I look forward to working with everyone in the athletic department, the coaching staff and especially the student-athletes."

Since December 2014, Ferguson served as an assistant men's and women's sprints, jumps, hurdles, and throws coach at La Salle University. During her tenure, she coached student athletes to 72 Top-8 finishes at the Atlantic 10 Conference Championships, 35 IC4A individual indoor/outdoor qualifiers, and 42 school records across all events. Ferguson also helped design and administer strength and conditioning workout plans for sprinters, hurdlers, and jumpers.
Prior to her time at La Salle, Ferguson served as Assistant Men's and Women's Jumps/Sprints Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at the University of Maine. While there, she coached 9 America East All Conference performers, five university top 10 performers, and two school records. She also managed the recruiting database, team travel and logistics, as well as team social media accounts.
Ferguson also spent time as an Assistant Women's Cross Country & Sprints/Hurdles/Relays Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Cheyney University and as an Assistant Men's and Women's Sprints/Relays Coach-Intern at Susquehanna University.
She competed as a member of the Track & Field team at Mansfield University from 2006-2010. Ferguson was an NCAA Division II National Qualifier and set the school record in indoor and outdoor Long Jump and 400 meter. She received a Bachelor of Science in Communication with a minor in music from Mansfield University of Pennsylvania and a Master's of Science in Sports Management from California University of Pennsylvania.
Ferguson is a highly decorated runner from West Catholic High School. She is a national record holder in the sprint medley relay, 3-time State Champion, and a 2-time All American. In 2004, she won the Nike Indoor Nationals Sprint Medley Relay and the Adidas Outdoor Sprint Medley Relay.
