UConn Director of Tennis Glenn Marshall has announced that Amber O'Dell has will be joining his staff as a graduates assistant coach this season.
"I am very excited to add Amber to our coaching staff in women's tennis," commented Marshall. "She recently graduated from one of the top tennis programs in the country, and contributed greatly to their success. She will bring her high-level playing experiences and enthusiasm to our team. My players and I are looking forward to welcoming her this fall."
O'Dell was a four-year letterwinner at the University of Virginia where she was on a full endowed scholarship for all four years. In her four years at Virginia, O'Dell was awarded ACC Freshman of the week, as well as ITA Atlantic Regional Rookie of the Year.
On the court O'Dell had her highest singles ranking of 68 and had a highest ranking of 7 for doubles. O'Dell was recognized by her teammates for her leadership as she was elected team-captain for the 2021-22 season. In addition to being named freshman of the week and Rookie of the Year, O'Dell was named to the ACC- Academic Honor Roll, was named ITA All-Academic Scholar Athlete.
O'Dell graduated the University of Virginia with a Bachelors degree in American studies with a minor in religious studies. While at UConn O'Dell will be pursuing her masters degree in sports management.
