Bill Guerrero is a proud alum, receiving his BA in Communications in 1993. He came to UConn with 25+ years of experience in educational administration at the C-suite level. Previously he has served as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at numerous institutions most recently as at the University of Bridgeport, Springfield College, Ithaca College, and Albertus Magnus College. His responsibilities have covered all areas of higher education operations including finance, accounting, budget, athletics, human resources, endowment management, facilities management, information technology, auxiliary enterprises, environmental sustainability, enterprise risk management, as well as a long-term adjunct faculty member teaching numerous subjects including Finance, Accounting Entrepreneurship.
He began his career in higher education as the Executive Director of the Purchase College Assocation, Inc at Purchase College, SUNY, where he managed the separate not-for-profit 501c3 auxiliary service corp., where he grew revenue from $2.3M to over $23M during his 13-years, including the creation of Purchase Park 2 Fly, a regional discount airport parking company. He also served as the President for the SUNY Auxiliary Services Association (SASA) and the National Association for College Auxiliary Services (NACAS) East Region, as well as numerous other leadership capacities. He currently serves on the Board of the Eastern Assocation of College and University Business Officers (EACUBO) and as the Vice Chair for the Program and Services Committee. He has presented in over 50 regional/national conferences with the primary goal to transfer knowledge to support institutional financial sustainability and student affordability and access.
His athletic background includes a long-term D3 college coach at SUNY Purchase where he coached numerous All-American, All-Region, and All-Conference student-athletes. He is also coached the softball and volleyball teams. He received the Coach of the Year in 2013 from the Skyline Conference and for SUNY Purchase. Additional experience includes project managing numerous athletic facilities including a multi-purpose turf baseball field, softball field, and funding sourcing for facility enhancements including bleachers, sound systems, fitness centers, training rooms, etc.
He also has his MBA in Finance & Entrepreneurship at Sacred Heart University, and finishing his DBA at Grand Canyon University preparing to defend his dissertation on research on ESG investments. and numerous professional certificates in Behavioral Finance, Private Equity, Mergers & Acquistions, Project Management, and Disruption Theory, from University of Chicago, Columbia, Villanova, and Harvard. He also serves on the Board of Directors for SwipeOutHunger the leader in combatting food insecurity on college campuses.
He is also married to Maggie Guerrero, UConn '94.Â
