Shea Ralph MRI Reveals Torn ACL

STORRS, CT - University of Connecticut senior Shea Ralph,
who sustained an injury after a layup attempt in the
championship game of the BIG EAST tournament on
Tuesday evening, underwent an MRI this morning at the
Windham Hospital. The MRI confirmed the postgame
evaluation of Dr. Michael Joyce, team orthopaedic
consultant, that Ralph suffered an ACL tear in her left
knee. Ralph will be sidelined for the remainder of the
2000-2001 season. Surgery to repair the ACL will be
scheduled following the NCAA tournament.
Shea Ralph, a First Team All-American, was the 2000 NCAA Final Four MVP and BIG EAST Player of the Year. She finishes her career at Connecticut as the winningest women’s basketball player in the program with an overall record of 159-12. Ralph is the sixth all-time leading scorer with 1,678 points and the fifth all-time assist leader with 456 career assists.
Shea Ralph will not be available for comment until further notice.
