NORRIES WILSON PROMOTED TO ASSISTANT HEAD COACH
June 14, 2001
STORRS, CONNECTICUT-- University of Connecticut head football coach Randy Edsall announced Thursday the promotion of Norries Wilson to the position of Assistant Head Coach, effective immediately.
Wilson is entering his third season as a member of the UConn coaching staff and has handled the duties of coaching the Husky offensive line since joining the staff in January of 1999. In his new position, Wilson will continue to work with the offensive line at the guard and center positions. Dave McMichael will take responsibility for the tackles, in addition to his duties with the UConn tight ends and special teams unit.
“As we continue our transition to Division I-A status, this re-organization of our coaching staff is another important step that will help that process to continue moving along smoothly,” said Edsall. “Norries will be able to take on more administrative duties and continue to be a tremendous representative of the Connecticut Football program in whatever role he is filling.”
Wilson came to UConn in 1999 with 11 seasons of college football coaching experience. He is a graduate of the University of Minnesota, where he was a two- year starter and captain of the 1986 Gopher squad that played in the Liberty Bowl.
