Huskies Downed by Union College

SCHENECTADY, NY (November 24) –The University of Connecticut men’s ice hockey team was routed by Union College, 8-0, in a non-league match-up on Sunday night at Achilles Rink in Schenectady, NY. UConn dropped its record to 3-7-1, while Union went above .500 to 5-4-3.
Jonathan Poirier scored two goals for Union in the 8-0 win, including the game-winner in the first three-minutes of the game. Joel Beal and Scott Seney each notched a goal and added two assists in the victory. The Dutchmen scored four goals in the first period, added three in the second and one last score in the third.
Jason Carey (Oakdale, MN) played the first 12-minutes of the game, making eight saves on four goals. Artie Imbriano (Stoneham, MA) played the remainder of the game stopping 17 shots on goal. Kris Mayotte went the distance for Union stopping all 15 shots on goal.
The Huskies will take the week to prepare for its first game in Division I program history against a nationally ranked team as they travel to Durham, NH on Saturday, November 30 to take on currently No. 1 New Hampshire at the Towse Rink at 7:00 pm.
