Turner Named BIG EAST Rookie of the Week

PROVIDENCE, RI (Dec. 30) - Freshman Barbara Turner (Cleveland, OH) of the Connecticut women’s basketball team was selected BIG EAST Rookie of the Week named by the league officials on Monday, morning.
Turner came off the bench to score a game high 16 points and added a career high nine rebounds, including seven offensive rebounds, to lead the Huskies over South Florida 72-56, on Saturday night in Tampa, FL. Turner helped fill the void left by the injured Diana Taurasi playing 27 minutes and hitting 8-9 from the free throw line.
Connecticut will return to action tonight at Florida State. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
