Taurasi Named Co-BIG EAST Player of the Week

PROVIDENCE, RI (Feb. 18, 2002) -- For the third time this season, sophomore Diana Taurasi (Chino, CA) had garnered BIG EAST Co-Player of the Week honors, sharing the award for Feb. 18 with Notre Dame’s Alicia Ratay.
In No. 1 UConn’s only contest last week, an 85-55 win over Syracuse, Taurasi posted a game-high 24 points and eight assists with only one turnover in 38 minutes. She also recorded five rebounds and two blocks and shot 7-for-12 from the field, including four three-pointers.
Taurasi was tabbed BIG EAST Co-Player of the Week for Dec. 3 and Jan. 7 as well. This week’s award is the ninth conference player of the week honor for the Huskies this season.
