Huskies Complete Day One at BIG EAST Championships

SYRACUSE, NY (Feb. 20, 2003) - The University of Connecticut men's and women's swimming and diving teams are currently in seventh and tenth place, respectively after the first day of competition at the BIG EAST Championships.
The Huskies received three outstanding performances on the swimming side on day one. For the women junior Lindsay Hansen (Clearwater, FL) finished eighth in the 500 freestyle, while setting a school record time of 4:55.21. Hansen broke Liz Clink's record of 4:55.52 set during the 2000-01 season. On the men's side senior Marshal Livingstone (Endwell, NY) finished seventh in the 500 freestyle and freshman Mike McNulty (Hartland, WI) finished 12th in the 200 IM. Livingston broke the school record of current assistant coach Barry Hoey (1998-99) with a time of 4:28.13, while McNulty broke the record of P.G. Schrader (1994-95) with a time of 1:53.18.
On the diving side senior Melissa Kull (Poughkeepsie, NY), junior Chase Dunlap (Canandaigua, NY) and sophomore Alisha Lee (Seekonk, MA) all recorded top 10 finishes. Dunlap finished seventh with a score of 244.70 for the one-meter event, while Kull finished sixth with a score 381.46 and Lee was eighth at 345.55 for the three-meter event.
The Huskies will continue action at the BIG EAST Championships over the next two days.
