Huskies Gear Up for Season Opener

The University of Connecticut baseball team will open up the 2004 season on Friday, February 27 when they square off with No. 7 Arizona State in Tempe, Ariz. at 9:00 ET. Head coach Jim Penders will hand the ball to Clemson transfer Jeff Hourigan (Beacon Falls, CT) who will make his first career start as a Husky and will duel with Sun Devil right hander Jeff Mousser.
This weekend's series will be the first meeting between the two sides.
Mousser has made three starts this year for ASU, scattering 13 hits in 17 innings and registering an earned run average of 2.55.
ASU began its season with a three-game sweep of No. 18 Florida State and have more recently defeated No. 1 Rice and No. 16 Arizona en route to running its record to 9-2.
The Huskies will also square-off with ASU on Saturday and Sunday at 3:00 ET.
