Mullen Named ECAC Field Athlete of the Week

STORRS, CT (Feb. 4) - Two-time All-American and University of Connecticut women’s track and field athlete Deirdre Mullen (Princeton, N.J.) has been named the ECAC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week for the second time this season, following her outstanding performance at last weekend’s Adidas Boston Indoor Games.
Mullen’s high jump of 1.86 meters (6-1.25) at the indoor meet the second-best jump in the country at this point in the season. The mark was also an automatic qualifying height for the NCAA Championships, and good enough for a new UConn record. Mullen now holds the top shot, as well as the second spot with a jump of 1.84 meters (6-0.5) which she has achieved on two separate occasions.
The women’s track and field team will return to action on Saturday, February 7 when they travel to the URI Invite #1 in Providence, R.I.
